Getting started

Create an account and an organization, set up your first project, add and assign tasks, plan your day in My tasks and invite your team.

This page takes you from sign-up to a team that works on shared tasks. It takes about five minutes.

Create an account and an organization

Go to https://app.assign2me.com/rejestracja and fill in your work email, first and last name, a password and the name of your organization (usually your company). Click Create account and organization. On your first sign-in we ask you to confirm your email address with a link we send to it.

You get your account, your organization and the Administrator role in one step. You also start a 30-day free trial with all features, and no card is needed (Billing). The organization starts with a sample project with three sections, so you can see how things work. Delete it whenever you like.

One account can belong to several organizations. Switch between them at the top of the left sidebar.

Your first project

Click New project in the left sidebar, type a name and click Create project. You become the project’s Owner. The project opens as a list with one section, “To do”.

A project has three views: List, Board (sections become columns) and Summary (open, overdue and completed tasks, per section and per person).

Sections

Sections split a project into stages, for example “To do”, “In progress”, “Waiting for client”. Click Add section to add one at the end. Drag a section header to change the order. From the section menu you can rename it or delete it. If a section still has tasks, you choose whether to move them to another section or delete them with it. A project always has at least one section.

Adding tasks

Click Add task in a section, type a title and press Enter. The task is saved and a new empty row opens below, so you can type the next one straight away. Esc cancels an empty row.

To capture a task from any screen, use Quick add: the + button, or press Tab and then Q. Type the title and press Enter. Without a project the task is private: only you and the assignee see it, and it lands in My tasks under New. You can move it to a project later in the task panel.

Click a task to open its panel on the right. Changes save on their own when you leave a field. There you can write a description (bold, lists, links, @mentions), add subtasks, comments and files up to 25 MB, and see the full History of changes. Each task has a short key, such as A2M-142, that you can use in chats, emails and code.

Assigning and due dates

A task has one assignee, the person responsible for it. Pick them in the task panel. You can assign someone who is not a project member. They then see only that task, not the rest of the project, and the app warns you about it.

Set the Due date in the panel. Overdue dates show in red, and today and tomorrow are written as words. Next to the due date every task shows its waiting time, how long it has been open: “waiting 3 days”, or “closed after 3 days” once it is done. Sort by Waiting longest to find tasks that got stuck.

My tasks

My tasks is your start screen: every task assigned to you, from all projects, in four personal groups:

Group What goes there
New Tasks just assigned to you
Today What you will do today
Next The next few days
Later What can wait

Drag tasks between groups. The groups are yours alone: nobody else sees them and they don’t change project sections. At midnight in your time zone, tasks that are due today or overdue move to Today.

Inviting your team

Open Members and click Invite people. Paste up to 20 addresses at a time, separated by commas, spaces or new lines. Choose a role and, if you like, the projects to add people to right away. Each person gets their own link, valid for 7 days. Under Pending invitations you can resend or revoke an invitation.

Only Administrators invite members. To invite someone from your client’s side, invite them as a free guest instead (Guests).

Roles

Role What it can do
Administrator Everything a member can, plus: invites and deactivates people, changes roles, sees all projects and the team summary, manages integrations and billing
Member Creates projects, works in the projects they belong to, sees tasks assigned to them in other projects
Project owner Manages the project’s members, settings and Slack channel
Guest A person from the client’s side who sees only the tasks assigned or shared with them

A project member sees the whole project. Add people with the Share button in the project header.

Next: connect Slack or GitHub, or invite your client.
